And I went out by night by the gate
of the valley, even before the dragon well, and to the dung port, and viewed
the walls of Jerusalem, which were broken down, and the gates thereof were
consumed with fire. (KJV)
Nehemiah 2:13
When I was in college, in junior
class, the name of our class captain was Daniel Koya. This boy I am talking about
was a very good boy. He always knows what the class needs and he will have
arranged it with the class teacher before it will get late. He is punctual, neat,
and brilliant. All those good character leads him to be the overall head
prefect when we got to senior class.
Daniel Koya good leadership reminds
me of Nehemiah, a man of God who was instrumental in rebuilding the well of
Jerusalem. Nehemiah was a Jewish exile and he was serving in a high-ranking
position under the king of Persia
When Nehemiah heard that the remnant
of his people in Jerusalem was in a great danger. The walls of the city had
been knocked down and the gate been burned. When he heard this, his heart was broken;
he wept, fasted, confessed his sins, and prayed for several days to God. Then,
the Lord directed him to leave is post and moved into the violence-ranked city.
He stayed there until the walls were rebuilt and order was restored.
We must be willing to identify with
human need in any position of authority we hold so that God can use us in troubled
areas. That is the a Good leadership that leads.
