Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence
of things not seen.(KJV)
Hebrews 11:1
First of all, let us ask ourselves, what is faith and how
those it works? The book of Hebrews 11:1 has defined what faith is. One thing
we should always have in mind is that, as a Christian, our duty is faith. Our
attitude towards faith must be very powerful. Because every Christian faces
obstacles along life's pathway, and walking in God's will without faith will
never guarantee that our way will be easy. But no matter how difficult, we can
always have trust in God and go forward in faith.
A man brought is son to the disciples and the disciples were
unable to cure him. We believe you all know why the disciples were unable to do
that? It’s simply because the disciples did not have faith. But Then Jesus
answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be
with you? How long shall I suffer you? Bring him hither to me. Matthew
17:16-17. Faith is talking about what we cannot see with our naked eyes but in
spirit.
Someone said, "If God built a bridge a yard ahead, it
could not be a bridge of faith." It's the first step into the unseen that
proves we have faith. Abraham, for example, "went out, not knowing where
he was going"(Hebrews 11:8). He obeyed God and relied on Him to clear the
path.
And again, through faith also Sara herself received strength
to conceive seed, and she delivered a child when she was past age, because she
judged him faithful who had promised.(Hebrews 11:11). A lot of people can't
practice faith because they are always in ease.
When we walk in obedience to God and come upon a closed
gate, we can confidently take the next step of faith. As we move forward we'll
see Him open the way
